Call for e-Learning/Digital Developer

The Facing Facts Network is looking for an eLearning/Digital Developer to work with our instructional designers and subject matter experts to transform high quality, specialist content on hate crime and hate speech into engaging online learning activities, including case studies, reading activities and multimedia resources. This call is open for EU-based applicants that are interested in a part-time hired position and/or independent consultancy. Applicants will be considered on an ongoing basis. The office is based in Brussels. Remote work within the EU is possible, however, regular travels to the office will be required.

Background

The Facing Facts Network is a multi-stakeholder partnership of civil society organisations and public authorities that works to better understand and address hate crime and hate speech through research, training and advocacy. Facing Facts Online is our online learning platform which hosts self-paced courses and regular cohorts to support a range of actors to understand and respond to hate crime and hate speech in Europe and beyond.  

Role Description

Our ideal candidate will also have a strong visual eye and be able to work closely with our graphic designer and video editor to create engaging educational visuals. 

Responsibilities

Work with subject matter experts and instructional designers to create engaging eLearning content on hate crime and hate speech for multi-stakeholder learners, including police, criminal justice agencies, specialist victim support providers and decision-makers. 

Ensure consistent and engaging graphic and visual design throughout the learning resources and work with our Communications Officer in developing marketing and awareness-raising visuals

Essential skills and knowledge

  • A strong understanding of instructional design principles, ideally in a continuing professional development environment. 
  • Experience in key Moodle-compatible authoring tools such as H5P, Genially, Canva and other similar tools
  • Experience with learning management system Moodle.
  • Strong communication and project management skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, including accepting and acting on feedback to improve the quality of the product
  • A good understanding of adult professional learners with limited time, and how they learn best
  • Experience, skill and interest in graphic design within online learning. Experience in using Canva and similar tools is essential. 
  • Ability to work independently and to meet regular deadlines
