CEJI welcomes the handbook for the practical use of the IHRA antisemitism definition

January 12, 2021

Published jointly by the European Commission and the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, the handbook offers practical tips for applying the IHRA working definition to real-life antisemitic cases. Since the definition has been an organic part of the CEJI trainings, we are especially pleased to see such a useful complement made widely accessible.

The purpose of this guide is to:
-present the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism, along with guiding examples, and to relate these to the contexts of real-world antisemitic incidents and crimes;
– illustrate good practices in the application of the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism and
– offer a checklist for using the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism across different policy areas.
CEJI welcomes the possibilities brought along by this handbook, which helps to create a better understanding and a clearer language around antisemitism, and ultimately helps to combat it more effectively.
